Yet another person new to this site.

I was diagnosed with RA in April 2007 but I've only just joined NRAS. Mine is fairly well controlled by MTX and additional pain killers when necessary. I also have splints for my hands but other than that I'm lucky that my meds keep everything fairly well under control and I'm able to lead a fairly "normal" life (whatever that is!).

Dawn.

Hi Dawn

Welcome to the site. Seems we are fairly similar with our RA, was diagnosed at the beginning of 2008 and am also fairly controlled on Hydroxy & other stuff as & when.

I like the support the site gives when I have a question, also that our contributions are used to help.

Let's hope we stay well controlled, with our sporadic flares.

Hello Dawn

Welcome to the site. My name is Anne 50 years old and was diasnosed in May this year, thought all was under control until recently, but that is something which appears to be the norm many ups and downs.

Great site to join, so many people on here with so much knowledge.

Hi Dawn

I'm new to the forum and new to RA but already I've made good use of the forum for ranting Smile It's really good to just bang away at the keyboard and post it on here to get everything off your chest.

Hi Dawn
Welcome to the forum. I'm Sue (58) a teacher with 3 grown up children. I live near Salisbury. I was diagnosed a year ago and am on mtx and hydroxy which seem to be working fairly well. My wrists and hands flare up occasionally and I just used my wrist splint for the first time this week but otherwise I think I'm fairly lucky. Mind you I did start thinking yesterday - what would it be like to wake up and not think 'which bit is aching today?' Wouldn't that be nice!LOL
take care
Sue

Hi Dawn

A slightly belated welcome to the forum! Hope you find it useful and make lots of new friends. A great place to be when you need support or just for chatting with others with RA.

I'm Lyn, married with four children all in various stages of education. I live in Thornton Cleveleys in Lancashire. I was diagnosed with sero negative RA over 22 years ago and have run the gamut of medication and several surgical procedures along the way. Currently on Naproxen, Prednisolone and Enbrel, and whatever cocktail of pain killers I choose to imbibe!!

Pleased to hear you are well controlled with methotrexate, it is the gold standard treatment for RA and many have found long term relief from its use. I was on it successfully for many years until some twit increased the dose and it took a dislike to me early in the year as a result. It has now been banished from the pill cupboard never to be taken again!

Enjoy posting Dawn. look forward to getting to know you,

Lyn x

Hi all

I am a Maths teacher (45) two children 12 and 8. I have been diagnosed with RA in April 2010. MTX did not work for me I had steroid injections. I have a review meeting on 19th of november. Joined NRAS in September. I went through a phase of depression. Now I am feeling slightly better while educating myself with RA. Nras has provided me with a lot of information about RA. Now I know I am not alone.

Hi Dawn,

You were the same as me, I was diagnosed in 2007 too in November, mine was triggered by a flu jag. Then I also joined in March this year, and the rest is history as they say. Smile
My name is Lorna, I am 51 and am married to Ken and have 3 lovely daughters. I was very ill at the start but having been on the triple therapy, I keep so much better now. You will find this site really helpful so don't be afraid to ask, we have all been there and now wear the tea shirt ha ha Smile take care and keep smiling Lorna x
